Get Ready to Mashup at GTEC 2009
As Canada's Government Technology Event, GTEC brings together leading public and private sector experts to collaborate on serving citizens better through innovation and technology. Our conference, exhibition and Distinction Awards program celebrates best of breed technology, and best practice leadership in Canadian and international government.
Over the past three years, GTEC has explored "Government 2.0" as a way for governments to integrate web 2.0 technologies into their service transformation efforts. This year's theme, "Government 2.0 Service Mash-ups", applies the private sector concept of mash-ups to public sector services.
In the private sector, web 2.0 mash-ups combine data from more than one source into a single application that is tailored to the needs of specific users. To help us apply the idea of mash-ups to public sector services, GTEC has collaborated with Deloitte on a "Government 2.0 Service Mash-up Framework". The public sector faces unique considerations around transparency, sustainability and accountability. Therefore the Government 2.0 Mash-up Framework focuses on creating sustainable innovation using:
- Public sector networks as platforms for collaboration
- Architectures of participation
- Services that deliver targeted outcomes
- Processes that balance risk and results
For the GTEC attendee, the Service Mash-up Framework will help drive a common learning experience for the mash-up presentations, so you can develop idea lists for your organization from the common leadership experiences that are presented. If you are searching for new approaches to service delivery within your organization, GTEC will provide a fresh perspective and useable tools for your organization
