|
The Distinction Awards 2007 Program and Gala are designed to formally recognize and celebrate leadership, innovation and excellence in enabling and managing e-government within the public sector.
The award categories in 2007 reflect the evolving public sector service delivery environment, and the increasing interdependence within and among the various levels of government. In addition to specific categories for federal, provincial, and municipal nominations, a group of 21 awards is now open to all levels of government.
Up to 42 Awards may be given in five groups, encompassing 17 categories. In 2007, there are separate groups for Federal Awards (Group I), Provincial Awards (Group II), Municipal Awards (Group III), National Awards (Group IV) and Leadership Awards (Group V).
Nominations in each of the groupings will be subject to a rigorous screening and judging process by distinguished representatives from the particular jurisdictions involved. The winners will be announced on October 15, 2007 at the Distinction Awards 2007 Gala sponsored by the private sector, and held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, in Gatineau, Canada.
- Group I – up to 9 medals will be awarded for federal government projects and employees only, including: Service Delivery to Citizens & Businesses; Internal Business Operations; and IT Operations.
- Group II – up to 6 medals will be awarded for Service Delivery to Citizens & Businesses; Internal Business Operations; and IT Operations within the Provinces to honour teams or individuals.
- Group III – up to 6 medals will be awarded for Service Delivery to Citizens & Businesses; Internal Business Operations; and IT Operations within the Municipalities to honour teams or individuals.
- Group IV – up to 18 medals will be awarded in 6 categories open to all levels of government. Federal, provincial and municipal public servants may now propose nominations in the following categories: Category A: Information Management; Category B: Cross-Jurisdictional Partnerships; Category C: International Partnerships; Category D: Pilot Projects; Category E: The Human Dimension; and Category F: Unique Achievement.
- Group V – medals will be awarded in 2 categories open to all levels of government. Federal, provincial and municipal public servants may now propose nominations in the following categories: Category A: Leadership; Category B: Career Achievement.
This spectacular evening is a fitting celebration of excellence in e-government, and is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for public servants. It is attended by the most senior representatives from industry and government, who come to honour the outstanding Distinction Award finalists and award winners. The Gala will be held this year on October 15, 2007, and will be another sold-out evening with only a limited number of tables still available.
